SITE FOUR- GO FISH
SIXTH AND SEVENTH GRADE ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS
Students of room 209 and 208
Mr. Hackmann and Jessica Hudson
With a reading focus on non-fiction, media, and multiple perspectives, middle-school students pulled the theme FLOODED WITH INFORMATION from their reading curriculum and explored the artistic mediums of scroll device, toy theater, and installation.
In EARTH ARCADE students focus on both life-size installation in the Audubon lawn and miniature installation within the world of aquatic theaters. The performance takes on the environment of an office to show how information and authority can overwhelm people.
For the installation students created-
- toy theaters in aquariums (aqua theaters)
- scroll devices with paintings of the city
- an original underwater soundscape
- flooded books
- descriptive writting and words around the theme flood
- an interactive game for our audience

QUESTIONS TO READ BEFORE VISITING EARTH ARCADE AND ANSWER AFTER YOU EXPERIENCE THE EVENT-
What did you experience at this site (see, hear, smell, taste, touch)?
What materials and objects did the students use in their installations? What do you think it meant?
What did you notice about the performers? Who was in charge? When did it change?
What is the message of this installation? What is it trying to tell us?
